So here’s the deal. I loaned money to this guy (Luis Vergara Montalvo) a year or so ago through Kiva.org it helped him build his welding / construction business in Mexico. He bought a welder and some raw materials with the loaned money ($1500 / $25 from me), and now he’s running a profitable business, and has fully repaid the loan.
Now I’ve relent the same $25 to a new guy shown below (Gunduz Djavadov), his wife died and he’s been cooking kebabs for three years, now he needs more meat.
Actually here’s the cut and paste from the Kiva website “Gunduz lives in Khachmaz town. He was born in 1957. He is a widow. He has cooked kabab for 3 years. Now he needs a loan of 970 AZN to buy meat for cooking the tasty kabab.“
To tell you the truth you can pick anyone you want to sponsor, and well it’s getting late so I just chose the first person I saw which was this guy. He doesn’t have much of a business plan, but hey how can you go wrong, I hear he cooks a mighty tasty kabab, and I want to help him.
It might sound corny, but it’s good stuff. You should check out the site, they explain it better than me, and you get your money back after the loan period is up.
This is really what I did, I’m being 100% serious. 100% of the money goes to the person that you are sponsoring then you really get it back (there is a small chance that you may not get it all back, but hey it’s only $25).
